3 Designer Tips to Boost Your Home's Curb Appeal

First impressions can make lasting impressions. By taking the time to add a few simple upgrades, you can create eye-catching charm, making your curb appeal feel effervescent and impactful. Not only will people stop and stare, but they may even drive by more often just to steal glances. Today, I'm going to share 3 tips to boost your home's curb appeal…

Tip #1: Keep Things Fresh by Pressure Washing & Painting

Weathering is a real thing, regardless of where you reside. The outside of your home is a magnet for dirt and grime. This being said, one of the easiest ways to enhance the look of your home is to clean it. Get out your power washers, brooms, leaf blowers, etc., and polish up your driveways, fences, gutters, outdoor furniture, and siding to give off a fresh and polished appeal.

Painting is another great option to freshen your house. Whether you choose to add a pop of color to your front door, garage door, trim, or shutters or go big and completely change your exterior color, paint can elevate your home vibe; just be sure to select a cohesive color palette.

Tip #2: Add in Layers With Lighting & Landscaping

Adding layers, such as greenery and lighting, to the front yard landscaping is a surefire way to boost your landscape aesthetics. Grouping your planters and color-coordinating your plants are a wonderful way to create cohesiveness by your front door. Wreaths and flowers are great for creating symmetry and pulling the look together.

As for your landscaping, the greener, the better. Go ahead and plant those bushes, shrubs, and trees, but don't forget to keep the grass and hedges well-manicured. Beautiful curb appeal dazzles day to night, so it is important to ensure that your landscape lighting highlights your exterior, all while providing safety and security. Floodlights, spotlights, and stake lights can be easily installed, adding depth and dimension to your lawn. Light fixtures, such as lanterns, should be functional but also tie into the style of your home.

Tip #3: Accessorize With Window Treatments & Decor

Adding window treatments and tasteful exterior decor can majorly improve your property's visual appeal. Transforming your windows by adding shutters, adding a welcome mat, updating your mailbox, or changing out your house number style can create major sophistication points.

Rocks or a trellis can be used to fill voids between sparse flower beds and create natural decor. Introducing seating areas also aide in making an entry more welcoming. If your space allows for it, try including outdoor rugs, weather resistant pillows. woven pieces to add softness and texture to the space too.

Making The Most of Your Home's Exterior

Making the most out of your home's exterior comes down to how attractive you make it. To the passerby, the outward appearance of the house is often assumed to be a strong indicator of the quality of the house within. Your curb appeal allows for potential buyers' interests to be peaked, for bystanders to fall in love with your property, to have a positive effect on your neighborhood, and for your home-ownership pride to shine.

If you follow my design tips for maximizing your exterior curb appeal, you'll leave everyone who casts eyes on your home feeling like they caught a major vibe.
