4 Tips for a Tidy, Organized Gift Wrap Station This Holiday Season

You've made it, once again, to the most wonderful time of the year! For most people, the end of the year comes with the added pressures of figuring out what to buy for whom, parties to attend, magic to create, and finding the time to wrap all of your purchases.

There's nothing worse than when you finally find 30 minutes to dedicate to the daunting task of wrapping only to realize you've misplaced the scissors or run out of tape. To help reduce your holiday chaos, I’m sharing three quick tips for creating and maintaining a designated wrapping station all year-round…

Tip #1: Find a Dedicated Wrapping Space

First, you'll need to find a space that can be turned into a dedicated wrapping corner. This should be in a low-traffic area given that you won't be using it daily. I like to use a desk with plenty of storage that can hold and hide supplies.

I also recommend getting creative with your organizers. Whether you use metal rods for ribbons, tiered containers, or hooks, you'll want to find ways in which your supplies are off the ground, easily visible, and readily accessible.

Tip #2: Stock up on Essential Supplies

Second, you'll need to stock up on the basics and keep the essentials, such as scissors, tape, and glue handy. Make sure your new station is in a well-lit area and that you have a comfortable space to work within. Keeping a tidy working space is going to be key here, as you'll need a clear wrapping surface for success.

Tip #3: Sort & Organize Wrapping Supplies

Third, I always recommend sorting through and grouping your supplies. Place all of your adornments in one section and your wrapping paper, gift bags, and boxes in another. Create subgroups that make sense to you, such as grouping wrapping paper by solid colors, birthdays, and holidays. Don't forget to label what you organize. Labeling is a quick and wonderful way to help you to maintain your wrapping station year round.

Tip #4: Create an Inventory System

Now that you know how to create, organize, and maintain your tidy gift wrap station year round, your last step should be to create a small inventory system. This can be handwritten on a post-it or on a framed dry-erase board–whatever is more to your liking.

Keeping track of your supplies will prevent you from overbuying next holiday season. Congratulations! Your new dedicated wrapping corner is now ready for use year-round, for all special occasions.
