3 Ways to Incorporate Health, Happiness, and Overall Wellness into Your Home

A home should be a sanctuary— a safe place that promotes deep relaxation, positivity, belonging, motivation, and health. Since everyone is different, what rejuvenates one person may not work for another, so choosing what speaks to you is truly important. Your home should energize your mind, body, and spirit, infusing overall wellness into your life.

Tip #1: Your Design Must Function as Great as it Feels

Does your current setup function and feel great? A home designed for wellness is organized and flows effortlessly. When you live simplistically, it reflects back into your life. As I like to say, "When everything has a place, nothing feels out of place." Organization makes a home look and feel easy, creating an environment that is harmonious.

Tip #2: Your Design Must Stimulate Multiple Senses

How many senses does your home stimulate? The more that you can check off, the better! Think about a time that you have come home after a long day and the smell of the garbage is what immediately greets you. Now, replay this scenario in your mind, but instead of opening your front door and smelling the trash, imagine smelling lavender coming from your diffuser.

Considering how your senses can be stimulated in positive ways and then incorporating those elements into your home is key. Using plush throw blankets and down pillows is another great way to stimulate your senses. Showcase things you love!

Tip #3: Your Design Must Give a Nod to Nature

Fresh plants add life to any space. They help to bring the outside in and support cognition, physical health, and psychological well-being. Furthermore, plants absorb toxins, increase humidity, and produce oxygen, making a biophilic home an organically smart home. Plants have even been known to promote recovery, improve sleep, and help to prevent allergies, helping you to go to bed at ease and wake up refreshed.

With so many ways to add a wellness-inspired design into your home, this is honestly an area where you have a plethora of options! A few trending wellness design ideas include improving air quality, light, and temperature. You can also use crystals, essential oils, candles, or a water feature.

Adding wellness to your home provides you with an opportunity to get in touch with your feelings and preferences, emphasizing what feels best for you. After all, wellness design is all about self-care and creating a home that brings out the best in you. Grant yourself permission to spoil yourself!
