3 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Investing in an Interior Designer

I am often asked at what point is the right time to hire an interior designer. My simple answer to this is whenever you're ready to hand over the reins.

The truth of the matter is that working with an interior designer is not for everyone, and that is okay! If you enjoy shopping for your own decor, know how to implement your selections, actively work on home DIY projects, or like being heavily involved in the design process, then in-person design services might feel like more of a struggle for you.

While I love working directly with my clients, in today's ever-evolving world, many of my clients truly enjoy taking advantage of the handful of virtual design packages that I offer.

Virtual interior design services are perfect for homeowners who are ready to DIY their home decor with style so you can forget the overwhelm and transform your home from bland to beautiful — all online for one flat fee.

Good news, if you don't fit into the typical candidate category of who should work with an interior designer in person, virtual packages might be just the ticket for you.

Are you ready to invest in an interior designer? Here are 3 questions to ask yourself…

1.) Do you know what your goals are?

Traditionally, the first step in working with me is a consultation. During this window of time, I am listening to what your home goals are and learning a little bit more about your personal style. Being able to take the information presented by the client and assessing exactly how to get them from point A to Z is essential.

My virtual "Pick My Brain" package is helpful for this stage as it allows you, as the client, to get smart interior design advice online while having dedicated time on Zoom to ask me whatever questions you might have. If you choose to go virtual, the first step is going to be to select and purchase your package of choice.

Next, you simply fill out my profile and include photos/videos of your space, including any specified questions that you may have. The last step from here is to schedule your first of two Zoom sessions, and we will get started. It's that easy!

2.) Are you ready to invest in your home?

Are you ready to invest wisely in your home? Can you practice the patience needed to let your hired professional be in control of your project, and can you sit back and trust the process? These are important questions to ask yourself prior to hiring. Interior design is in investment in time as much as it is financially.

Today, I'm able to transform your home with our interior design services locally or you can experience personalized online interior design expertise from the comfort of your own home. My virtual packages are great stepping stones in the starter process because they allow you to design your dream space hassle-free.

3.) Do you love to delegate or prefer to take a back seat?

Do you love to be the expert delegator who plays a hands-on role in creating their home aesthetic? Do you find it difficult to take a back seat and let someone else lead? If these resonate with you, you might be happier opting out of hiring a full-service designer.

Instead, consider purchasing a paid consultation in which you can access expert knowledge and advice while receiving direction on your home goals.

So, when is the right time to hire an interior designer? My long answer to this question is everyone can benefit in one way or another from hiring an interior designer. The trick is to analyze your personal preferences and decide whether you'll benefit more from a full-service designer or from online interior design services.

If you find you need a full-service designer, then the earlier in your project you hire out, the better. For those who suffer from design paralysis, lack the vision for what a room can transform into, need help with storage and functionality, feel stuck, or simply don't have the time to dedicate to your home, then hiring an interior designer will be the best investment for your time, finances, and lifestyle.

If you would love some support in creating your happiest home, we would love to help. Reach out, and let's get to know each other.

Warmly,
Celeste
