Top Trends in Interior Design in 2022

It’s the start of 2022, and it's time to take a moment to forecast what we will see trending in this year. So, let's jump right in, and I'll tell you my 2022 trend predictions for home interior design and decor. Let’s get inspired!

Colorful Accents & Pops of Wallpaper

Creating lively spaces by adding color, texture, and pattern to unexpected places such as cabinets, ceilings, and desk spaces will be a popular and fun way to add personality to areas within your home. Pops of wallpaper will also keep your mood up throughout the year.

Mixing earthy tones and blacks will also be trending. Emerald green is rich, and luxe and you’ll probably see it in almost every home this year. This color is great for pillows, tiles, accent chairs, bedding, art, etc.

Timeless Neutrals & Luxurious Textures

With all the changes we have seen in the last couple of years, sustainability has become increasingly important. As a result, many are now looking for longevity in their spaces instead of short-lived trends.

Families will primarily look at neutrals in communal spaces such as their living rooms. Neutrals are a timeless look and age gracefully instead of colors and elements that are cool for a season.

Textured fabrics are a fantastic way to add coziness and luxuriousness to an area. Sherpa, cane, velvets, and linens are great for layering and elevating, and we will continue to see them more and more in 2022.

The Terrace Wallpaper has a raised scalloped pattern and is a stunning neutral for your space.

Black is Trending

Black accents and hardware will be trendy in 2022. Black is sleek and minimalistic. It is a great accent to create a bold and edgy or chic and elegant look in a room. Whether it's kitchen hardware, lighting, benches, or art, black accents will be making a huge statement.

The black arched Breya Cabinet is the black accent for your modern living area.

Soft Curves & Round Shapes

Adding soft curves introduces a fresh and airy feel. Sofas with rounded edges, chairs with organic prints, and home decor pieces give off a natural vibe. Organic and round shapes will also help break up the bulk in a space and make it more aesthetically pleasing and functional for spending time at home.

Multipurpose Spaces

Being mindful of our spaces and their effect on our mental health and well-being has become very important. In addition, with the pandemic causing more people than ever to spend time at home, many realize that creating distinct multifunctional areas is essential.

These spaces should include creative storage solutions and diverse furniture pieces that can double in functionality (i.e., a dining table chair becoming a desk chair).

The Shadow Box Desk is a trendy storage solution that doubles as a work station.

The design trends for the new year are a heightened continuation from 2021. We will see lots of warm comfort, sustainable pieces, playful colors and textures, and a love of mixing earthy nature-inspired looks into our indoor spaces. 2022 will be the year of interior awareness and longevity in piece selections.
