My Favorite Fall Decor to Enjoy through November
Are you feeling a wee, bit sad that summer is coming to an end? If you’re like me, summer was a reprieve from the cooped up spring we endured.
Whenever you transition from one season to the next it always helps to have some new decor to add freshness & warmth to your home. It’s similar to adding new pieces to your wardrobe.
My favorite fall decor will help enhance the look & feel of your home through November & possibly beyond.
In my past life, I had a business called “Teddy Bears Traveling Tea Party. “ It was a home party business I started when my kids were young. We sold home accessories & seasonal decor.
It was quite successful & I built it up to a sales force of 8 distributors. Essentially, it was Etsy on wheels. Everything was handmade & American made. That was my motto.
I had a very discerning eye for products that were unique & made well. No church bazaar toilet paper covers or lace doilies made it to my product line.
The hostesses & their guests loved our products so much that by early June, I was booked out to the end of the year, 5-6 shows a week and referring new bookings to my sales staff.
But as life changed, it was time to move on to my new venture as an Interior Designer.
One thing that has never changed is my love for selecting quality home accessories & tasteful seasonal decor.
Here is my Favorite fall decor…enjoy!
1. Pumpkins & Gourds
You can’t go wrong with fresh pumpkins & gourds from your favorite local farmstand or grocery store. I prefer these over artificial versions of them.
But, every once in awhile I come across one that is beautiful in it’s own right. I happen to have a big, beautiful hand-blown glass pumpkin tinted lightly in an autumn orange that sits on my dining room table. I love when I put it in place knowing that it can stay there until it’s time to change to Christmas decor. It’s the perfect transitional piece to welcome the change of seasons.
Watch for pieces that have visual interest & don’t try to be something their not.
I think these Handwoven Rattan Pumpkins from Pottery Barn do just that. These can stay out through the end of November & will be something you’ll look forward to bringing out again next fall.
2. Fall Leaves
I have been known to collect freshly fallen, fall leaves on my morning walk to place around my pumpkins & gourds. The kids were helpful in this process & hey, it fits the bill. However, there is some upkeep & maintenance to this.
So, my favorite fall decor includes artificial fall leaves. This one from Crate & Barrel will work beautifully to wrap around your fresh or unique gourds to add softness. It also helps to pull the grouping together to create a single display. I have my own version I look forward to weaving around my glass pumpkin to do just that.
It’s a must for completing the look.
3. Fall Wreath
No home is complete without a Fall wreath to welcome guests & greet the new season.
I have a few, one for each door & one for my sunroom.
For years, the wreath I had in my sunroom was a twig wreath filled with eucalyptus & dried pods. I kept rejuvenating it each year as it got dryer & dryer. Recently, when Mike & I were preparing our basement to be waterproofed, I decided it was time to say goodbye to my old friend. Hasto Luego But now, I was in search for a new one. I searched until I found just the right one and discovered this Magnolia Wheat Wreath from West Elm. It arrived just a few days ago and it’s absolutely beautiful. I look forward to it filling the space for many years to come. This wreath will actually stay out until springtime since I do a full seasonal change in my sunroom for Fall-Winter & Spring-Summer.
4. Mums
My favorite fall decor includes Fresh Mums. I’m not opposed to silk flowers here & there, but I looked high & low for artificial mums that I could add to my list & decided that fresh is best.
What I love about fresh mums.
They come in a myriad of colors & types.
You can get them potted or cut & they both last long.
I love their unique fragrance.
They do a great job of filling the void from summer to fall.
They’re affordable for any budget.
5. Entrance Rug
Both Fall & Winter require a little added protection for your floors. A braided rug is the perfect way to protect your floors & welcome warmth this fall. I love the mingled colors. They offer a large array of tones. They wear like iron, even with pets.
This Oval Jute Braided Rug on Amazon is the perfect color combo to embrace the changing weather & take you through the winter months.
6. Lanterns
What I love about lanterns is they add a warm glow on a dark night or dreary day. It’s the perfect way to welcome fall. It’s easy to add an LED candle & set them to turn on at the same time each day.
When shopping for lanterns, be sure to check out the details. You want lanterns made of metal, not plastic. Check the dimensions closely & take the time to use a tape measure to get a feeling if the size is right for the space you plan to place them. Check the reviews.
I did just that as I searched for these Stainless Steel Decorative Candle Lanterns I found on Amazon. I like that this set has an updated look from the bronze lanterns you see so often.
7. Scented Jar Candles
I love burning candles all year round, but fall fragrances are my favorite.
If you had a chance to read my earlier blogpost, 3 Ways to Make Everything You Do At Home More Enjoyable, you know how much I value the ritual of burning candles. If you haven’t… be sure you do.
I’m quite selective when it comes to choosing my candles. I want one that has a pleasant fragrance & will burn evenly. I also look for a good value. I found just that when I discovered the Nature’s Wick brand on Amazon. It’s actually made by Yankee Candles.
It came packed as if they were shipping an egg. I am loving the fragrance & the sound of crackling from the wood wick. It’s an added bonus that the wick doesn’t need to be trimmed. I’ll be enjoying this brand through the fall & into the winter.
8. Pillows
Adding Fall pillows is an easy & fun way to distribute the look on your upholstered furniture. These Autumn Decorations Pumpkin Pillow Covers found on Amazon add a fresh & cheerful look. This colorway is perfect if you don’t favor the traditional colors of fall. They have other options for those that do.
9. Kitchen Towels
I love changing out my towels for each season. These charming Maison d’ Hermine Oak Leaves Kitchen Towels on Amazon are a lovely accent to pulling the look together. There are many more options available. These happen to be my favorite for fall decor because they do a nice job of bridging the gap when it still feels like summer but fall is in the air.

10. Table Runner
Last, but not least, a fall theme table runner is a beautiful way to finish off your tabletop decor. It’s the perfect backdrop to your pumpkins & gourds and fall leaves.
The Harvest Pumpkin Table Runner from Pottery Barn is exceptionally pretty. It’s the perfect look for the transition from summer to fall and can stay out through November.
